As the most visited park in the United States with over 37 million people, Central Park is, in its own right, one of the most iconic and recognisable places in the great city of New York.
We love Central Park. A rectangular park, more than 4 kilometres long and 800 metres wide, located in Manhattan, it is a landmark for New Yorkers and a must-see for tourists visiting the city because, quite simply, it is spectacular.
The origin of the park
It was 1858 when construction began on what is now Central Park. The approach of the designers, landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted and architect Calvert Vaux, was to evoke the spirit of the great European parks of London and Paris.
The work was completed in 1873, but throughout its history Central Park has experienced moments of complete neglect by politicians, which resulted in the park becoming increasingly dangerous, where it was very risky to walk in the evening. But over the years
several renovations have been taking place and campaigns to restore walkways and facilities until, today, it is a totally transformed place.
What to see in Central Park
Walking through the beautiful walkways of Central Park you can find extensive meadows, lush groves, large gardens, waterfalls, artificial lakes, statues and unique bridges as well as an extensive list of animals that live in the park itself. In addition to those present in the park's zoo, such as
sea lions, penguins, bears, lemurs, sea lions, penguins, bears, lemursleopards...
It is also a very
chosen by athletes for exercise. Cyclists, skateboarders and running enthusiasts enjoy a unique environment for sport every day on the Park Drive.
And it goes without saying that the
culture is also closely related to Centrar ParkThe park is home to two important New York museums: the Metropolitan Museum of Art (MET) and the Museum of Natural History.
Without a doubt, this is a unique place to visit if you are in "the city that never sleeps". That's right,
take home a couple of packets of our granola to sit on a bench and take in the spectacular views that Central Park has to offer. If you're lucky, you'll be approached by a small squirrel to share granola with.
