What is our Shaker made of?

The BlenderBottle® Classic™ is made of HDPE #2 and PP #5 plastic, which is the same type of plastic used for most food containers (e.g., ketchup bottles and margarine containers).

Is our Shaker BPA free?

Yes, it is BPA free.

Is my Shaker dishwasher safe?

Yes, all parts (including the BlenderBall®) are dishwasher safe. We recommend using the top rack for the cup and lid, and placing the BlenderBall® in the cutlery dish.

Is the Shaker microwave safe?

While the plastics used in BlenderBottle® brand products are BPA and phthalate free, microwaving is strongly discouraged. The leak-proof seal may allow pressure to build up inside the bottles/jars when heated, causing the lids to open unexpectedly and spray the contents. Never microwave the BlenderBottle® with the BlenderBall® inside.

Is my Shaker freezer safe?

We generally do not recommend freezing shakers. Like most plastic bottles, our shaker cups can become brittle and more susceptible to cracking or breaking when frozen. If you decide to freeze the contents, be sure to leave room at the top, as well as the flip-top lid open, for the contents to expand.

Can I mix hot liquids in my Shaker?

No. Hot or warm liquids can build up pressure inside the bottle and cause the cap to open unexpectedly and spray the contents.

Some ingredients, such as pancake batter, can also build up pressure inside the bottle. When mixing these types of ingredients, users should keep a finger on the flip-top lid while shaking and use caution when opening the flip-top lid. Always point the spout away from the face when opening the flip-top lid.

How do I store my Shaker correctly?

Our shaker can be stored in a cupboard, as you would any other cup. We recommend keeping the lid loose rather than tightly closed.

What can I do if my shake smells bad? How can I prevent this?

Certain protein and nutrition shakes can leave an unpleasant odor in a bottle if not cleaned quickly. If your bottle has retained some odor, try one of the following:

1. Roll a piece of charcoal briquette in newspaper, place it in the shaker and screw on the lid. After a few days, remove the briquette and newspaper and wash your shaker with soap and water.

2. Add a little white vinegar and baking soda to the bottle and rub. Do not close the flip-top lid.

BPA-free plastic tends to absorb odors over time. To prevent your shaker from smelling, avoid storing liquids for long periods of time and rinse or wash your bottle between uses.
