Somiedo Natural Park

I'll start by telling you about the Somiedo Natural Parkstated Natural Park in 1988 and Biosphere Reserve in 2000 by Unesco. If you are a nature lover, do not hesitate and come to Somiedo. It is nature in its purest form. Forests, lakes, high peaks... a privileged environment for one of its most beloved inhabitants: the grizzly bear. This endangered species lives in the wild in the valleys of the Natural Park in Somiedo, the area of Spain with the highest brown bear population density. The park is composed of four main valleys, which correspond to the four most important rivers in the area: the Somiedo, the Pigüeña, the Valle and the Saliencia. In addition to the brown bear, other animal species such as capercaillies, deer and wolves take refuge in these landscapes that seem more like a fairy tale than a reality. If you like hiking, Somiedo offers routes of different intensities so that everyone can enjoy this spectacle of nature. We recommend the route of the Braña de La Pornacal, of medium difficulty and the largest and best preserved of the Brañas de Somiedo. La Braña de la PornacalIt was nominated by the Repsol guide as the best place in Spain 2014 and the ancient traditions of the vaqueiros still survive.
