When you put effort into what you do, it shows. And when, in addition to effort, you add a large dose of pampering, the result is outstanding. And hey, it's Friday and this week we've received such great news that we're going to take it up a notch and share with all the readers of our New Yorker Diary that
our artisan granola... has been recognised as one of the flavours of the year 2018!
So what does this mean?
The Flavour of the Year certification is kind of like a taste Oscar. It is the only quality certification for the food industry and is based solely and exclusively on taste.
The products that are candidates for this important award are tested by means of a blind taste test. A sample of 80 consumers is chosen on the basis of their consumption habits. They are required to be regular consumers of the product category, but not experts.
Well, once the group of people has been selected, the candidate products are presented without any brand identification and on completely neutral tableware. The process involves a measured protocol to ensure that the test is carried out under optimal conditions. It is served as indicated by the manufacturer, without identification and in individual cabinets.
This type of test is not about comparing one flavour with another. The tests are
monadic. What does this mean? It means that the consumer tastes a single sample of the product and scores it individually and not against another product in the category. He tests and scores. And then only those products that have passed a score of 6/10 will be certified. The saying goes that comparisons are odious and in this test there is no room for comparison, only for enjoyment and delighting the taste buds.
If your product manages to awaken a spontaneous pleasure in the person who is tasting it, congratulations.
We can say loud and clear something that, although we already knew ;), has now been officially recognised by consumers:

We discovered granola on one of our trips to New York, later we conceived the (crazy?) idea of making the first Mediterranean granola and now, just a few months after introducing our little darling to the world, we have received this
recognition from consumers. We have much to celebrate and much to be thankful for.
