Granola Loves Autumn Fruits

Autumn fruits and granola. La Newyorkina.

And so, just like that, autumn has arrived in our lives. Again. Summer, why are you so short? Anyway, I will leave aside the complaints about the change of season and focus on the good things that autumn brings, which, like everything else in life, it also has. For example, the light. Autumn light is spectacular. If you are a keen photographer, you will know that autumn is a privileged season for taking photographs. In autumn we don't need to wait or get up early to enjoy the "golden hour" or the "blue hour", as this season brings together the best characteristics of natural and evening light throughout most of the day. And let's not even talk about the spectacular colour! Another great thing about autumn is its seasonal fruits, which, fortunately, all go great with any of our artisan and Mediterranean granola recipes. I told you a while ago about figs, their properties and how great they are with granola. But autumn is not only about figs, and the season offers us a whole host of other delicious seasonal fruits: grapes, pomegranates, persimmons, quinces, pears, apples, kiwis and, of course, our much-loved berries (blueberries, raspberries and blackberries). As you can see, an array of fruits that are a source of energy, vitamins and antioxidants, which will help us to face the cold winter and strengthen our defences to prevent colds. I have already talked about blueberries, raspberries and blackberries countless times because they are my favourite fruits and are never missing from my recipes. But let's take a look at the rest of the autumn fruits to see what each of them can give us.

Autumn fruits and their benefits

  • Pomegranate. Refreshing and sweet and sour, it is becoming increasingly popular. Its best asset? Its antioxidant content.
  • Quince. An autumnal fruit that is only eaten after cooking. It is mainly used to make jam, compote or the delicious dulce de membrillo. Who can say no to a good cheese with quince and walnuts? Not me!
  • Grape. Another of the great antioxidants, as well as detoxifying, anti-inflammatory and vasodilator.
  • Pear. Although it can be found at any time of the year, its best time is autumn. Great source of vitamins C and E, fibre and potassium.
  • Mandarin. One of the autumn fruits par excellence. Thanks to its high vitamin C and nutrient content, it reduces the effects of flu and colds.
  • Kiwi. Known for its high vitamin C content, as well as helping to reduce stress and combat anaemia.
All these autumn fruits go perfectly with our Mediterranean granola. Try different combinations of our organic and vegan granola "Apple Loves Ginger". with kefir and kiwi, for example.
