Granola and seasonal fruits, the perfect breakfast

by La Newyorkina
Getting out of bed on a summer morning and preparing a delicious breakfast while the sun shines through the window may be one of life's great pleasures. Add to this a terrace or garden where you can have breakfast outdoors, and I can't think of a better way to start the day. You know that at Granola La Newyorkina we are real fans of breakfast time and that's why we enjoy it and prepare it with the utmost care. And the best thing about this time of year is that there is a wide variety of fruits to complete your breakfast. So today I'm going to tell you about two seasonal fruits that, although they are not my favourite, I have discovered that by adding them to my morning granola bowl I have managed to give a different flavour to my breakfasts. Berries are very tasty and photogenic, but now it's the turn of watermelon and melon. Watermelon and melon are the quintessential summer fruits. Watermelon is 93% water and is extremely refreshing on hot days. The same goes for melon, its large amount of water makes it one of the most appetising and versatile fruits of the summer season, as it goes perfectly with desserts, salads and first courses (such as the well-known melon with ham). As well as being hydrating and purifying fruits, they are great antioxidants and help to prevent illnesses such as cancer and heart problems. So I've started combining granola with melon and watermelon. My latest recipe? Granola Pink, with strawberries, macadamia nuts and white chocolate, combined with natural yoghurt, watermelon and melon. If you haven't tried it yet, don't wait any longer! Maybe you've got the urge to make a bowl of granola, yoghurt, melon and watermelon right now and you're thinking of rushing out to the supermarket or fruit shop to buy the fruit. But do you know how to choose the best piece of fruit? A million times you've probably bought melon that's too green and a million times you've bought melon that's too ripe. Well, don't worry, before you rush off to the supermarket, I'm going to give you a trick to choose the melon and watermelon that's just right. When choosing melon, look at the stalk. If it breaks when you twist it, it is already ripe. In the case of watermelon, if it sounds hollow when you tap it with the palm of your hand, it is ripe. Now you know what you have to do to choose the best melon and watermelon in the shop. To complete your recipe, you can buy our Pink granola online or find the nearest shop near you. Add yoghurt to taste and enjoy your breakfast or snack!
